A 63-year-old woman from Gzira died on Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle she was a passenger on was involved in a crash with a coach. The accident happened at 4.20pm in Marfa Road, Għadira. The motorcycle was being driven by a 52-year-old man from Rabat (Malta), who was injured. A 40-year-old man from Birkirkara was at the wheel of the coach. Magistrate Joe Mifsud is holding an inquiry.

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are about to receive a special delivery of more than 10 tonnes of mail that has been delayed by Israel for the past eight years. Italian Transport Minister Danilo Toninelli called for EU sanctions against Malta on Sunday for failing to pick up migrants which were on a boat which transited the Malta rescue zone. But Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who referred to the case before Sig Toninelli made his comments, insisted that Malta was on the right side of international law. A team offered €14,000 for the privilege' of carrying the statue of Sta Marija in Sunday evening's procession in Mgarr (Malta). Bids were received by the parish priest in a traditional auction-like event held in the shadow of the church at the stroke of Noon on Sunday. Two Ukraine holidaymakers were conditionally discharged on Sunday after they stripped and engaged in sexual acts in public. A 29-year-old woman was remanded in custody on Sunday after police told a court how they had used a decoy package of cannabis in a sting operation.
