A 27-year-old man was hospitalised on Sunday evening when he was hit by a car while riding a bike in Msida. His condition is not yet known. The man, who is Indian, was riding in Triq ix-Xatt at around 7.15pm. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Over 2,200 mothers simultaneously nursed their children in Manila on Sunday as part of a campaign to take away the stigma of breastfeeding in public. Mothers breastfed their infants for over a minute in a campaign called "Hakab Na", which means "to latch on". A 2011 Family Health survey by the National Statistics Authority said over 92 percent of children in the Philippines between six to 35 months had been breastfed at some point, with 27% exclusively breastfed. A 28-year-old man from Żebbuġ, Gozo has been arrested after he was found in possession of 121 sachets of white powder, suspected to be cocaine. The police said the man was arrested at an entertainment venue in Gozo on Saturday night following investigations by the Drug Squad. He was also carrying a considerable amount of cash. Cash was also found at his residence. An inquiry is being held.

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s family has filed a constitutional application against the Planning Authority over the removal of a banner about the journalist’s murder from a private property in Valletta. The family is calling on the court to declare the PA’s removal of the banner in March, and a second time two weeks later, an abuse of power and a violation of the right to free speech. A suicide bomber killed three Czech soldiers who were on a Nato foot patrol in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, officials said, an attack claimed by the Taliban. One US and two Afghan soldiers were wounded, the Nato Resolute Support mission said in a statement. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis paid tribute to the "heroes who fought against terrorism so far from home and who were killed by a suicide attacker. "I respect what they did for our country. An interesting aspect emerging from the birth certificates study, between 1870 and 1875, at Porto Salvo parish church is that all the details of the children being baptised were recorded, even in cases of unknown fathers or illegitimate children. From the five-year review, there were 58 such cases out of 2,432 births – 2.34 per cent of children born of an unknown father or out of wedlock; 54 had an unknown father, two were illegitimate and two were cases of adultery. Farmers have adapted their cultivation and pruning methods, relying more on local wild flora and only using pesticides as a last resort, according to young farmer John Gauci. Born into a family of farmers, the 25-year-old is the youngest of three siblings – and the only one – who opted to study agriculture. “My father, whose parents and siblings are all farmers, questioned my choice of studies because he knows that it is getting harder to earn a living from toiling the land,” said Mr Gauci, who has a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. The revision of the controversial Paceville master plan, which has been in the offing for nearly two years, has been put on hold. Għajn Tuffieħa Bay was a sight to behold at noon on Sunday. People got out of the beach as instructed by lifeguards who said a lightning storm brewed overhead. When asked why, one of the life guards said currents during a storm could be considerably strung and could pull people out. The beach was empty for about 30 minutes before it returned to business as usual.

The least the driver of a cement falling out of a mixer driving on Maltese roads could have done when the mess he was creating was brought to his attention was stop and apologise. But, as Eman Buttigieg said in a post on the Facebook group Rubs Are You Being Served said, the reply he got from the Italian driver was that he should call the office. Mr Buttigieg said that the incident happened on Saturday. He called the offices of the cement mixer’s company but all lines were busy. He said he informed the police of the incident.
