Pakistan's new foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi complained to his Dutch counterpart on Tuesday over a planned anti-Islam cartoon contest, saying "such acts spread hate and intolerance". MEP David Casa has slammed the accountancy board’s “dereliction of duty” over its failure to take any action against Nexia BT partners Brian Tonna and Karl Cini. The board, chaired by Peter Baldacchino, regulates the accountancy profession in Malta and can recommend the revocation of an accountant’s or auditor’s warrant. The Transport Ministry has been ordered to amend a call for a €20 million tender for the provision of passenger and vehicle ferry services in Malta and Gozo. The subsidised service is currently provided by Gozo Channel. Upholding a number of objections made by Virtù Ferries, particularly on the terms of the call, the Public Contracts Review Board (PCRB) agreed the current tender, issued by Transport Malta, may be incongruent with EU rules, as it might restrict competition and the entry of new players to the market. A US air strike killed a suspected Islamic State militant in Libya on Tuesday, the US Africa Command said. The strike into the northwestern town of Bani Walid was carried out in coordination with Libyan authorities. Residents had earlier reported an air strike on a car in Bani Walid in which an Islamic State militant had been travelling. Islamic State lost its main Libyan stronghold in the central town of Sirte in 2016 but some militants have sought to regroup in the desert and other towns.

The migrant rescue ship Aquarius is to be registered in Panama after having been warned by Gibraltar that it would be struck off its register. The ship arrived in Marseille on Monday after leaving Malta where it disembarked a group of rescued migrants last week. A man who stands accused of slightly injuring two policemen was remanded in custody on Tuesday after his arraignment in court. North Korean officials have warned in a letter to the United States that denuclearisation talks were "again at stake and may fall apart", CNN reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The letter was delivered directly to U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and stated that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's government felt that the process could not move forward. A total of 111 turtles hatched at Ġnejna Bay, with only one egg remaining unhatched. Monitors who were guarding the site had counted 100 young turtles when eggs began hatching late at night last Wednesday, but a more thorough examination of the nesting site has now revealed that numbers were even greater.  Nature Trust and the Environment Resources Authority had said more turtles could emerge in the days following the initial hatching.
