Enraged villagers in a small town in central Mexico burned alive two men whom they confused with alleged child abductors, local authorities said on Thursday. The men, 21 and 53, had been detained at the police station in the town of San Vicente Boqueron in the state of Puebla. A crowd pulled them from their cell, beat them and set them on fire on Wednesday, the state government said in a statement. The European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee has decided to allocate European funding specifically to support investigative journalism in the European Union. The decision was taken in the wake of the assassinations of journalists Daphne Caruana Galizia and Jan Kuciak. The Indian community in Malta has raised more than €3,800 to help the victims of the floods that swept through the southwestern Kerala state earlier this month. Considered to be the worst floods in Kerala in a century, their death toll has so far risen to almost 200, while more than 200,000 people, including children, have been forced into relief camps, where they are living on the bare essentials, if any at all. A 73-year-old man was seriously injured on Thursday afternoon when his empty Toyota Townace van allegedly rolled forward and trapped him against the car in front, a Toyota Tercel, the police said, The incident happened in Strickland Street  at about 4pm.  Worker injured in construction site Earlier, in a separate accident, an Italian worker suffered serious injuries from a chaser saw, the police said. Italy on Thursday called on the EU to find other ports to disembark migrants rescued in the Mediterranean, suggesting it would withhold support for the EU naval mission against people-smuggling unless other countries take in survivors. Italy became the main route into Europe for hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers arriving by sea since the other main route from Turkey to Greece was largely shut in 2016. The MSE Equity Price Index moved higher for the second consecutive day on Thursday with a gain of a further 0.14% to 4,298.212 points. Four equities trended higher, another two performed negatively whilst the remaining five closed the day unchanged. Most of Thursday's activity took place in IHI and BOV with these two shares representing nearly 75% of the total value of equities traded. A 63-year-old retired man was remanded in custody on charges of complicity in after a court heard the prosecution's fears that he was associating himself with drug users. A man who had been jailed and fined for cultivating drugs was awarded €1,000 in moral damages and €1,700 to cover costs after the European Court of Human Rights found he had been subjected to arbitrary punishment. A temporary boom has been deployed off Pretty Bay after an oil spill at the Freeport.  A boom was put in place on Wednesday evening as a precautionary measure to protect bathers after a container was damaged and leaked crude corn oil into the terminal’s basin, Malta Freeport Terminals said in a statement.  "Inspections have shown that the oil spill has not spread to bathing areas, but Malta Freeport did not want to take any risks and have taken the decision to deploy the boom," the Freeport said.
