Malta appoints new High Commissioner to UK

Joseph Cole, a former permanent secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, has been appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, succeeding Norman Hamilton. According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry website, Mr Cole was appointed this month and will assume his duties upon presentation of his Letter of Commission to Queen Elizabeth. Two hooded people who appeared to be armed with a firearm were spotted outside a Bulebel warehouse on Wednesday afternoon, the police said.Officers were dispatched to the site after receiving reports of what appeared to be an imminent hold-up attempt. Pastis the pot-bellied pig likes nothing better than snuggling down for the night with the ponies at his retirement home, but also enjoys playing with the elderly cats. A medical clinic could soon be set up in Paceville to handle the drunk revellers who normally crowd the hospital’s emergency unit on weekends, Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Tuesday. “On weekends and holidays, we are experiencing a number of, let’s call them ‘patients’, who call at Mater Dei Hospital suffering from the effects of excessive drinking or some form of abuse or other. Palumbo shipyard electric circuit fire leaves two injured

Updated 5pm  Two people were rushed to hospital after an electric circuit board sparked and caught fire at Palumbo Malta Shipyard. PG share price climbs to 4-month high

The MSE Equity Price Index partially erased Tuesday's decline as it rebounded by 0.37% to 4,384.794 points on the back of gains in five equities while a further three shares closed the day unchanged. Cana Foundation gets €30,000 a year in three-year deal

The Family Ministry has guaranteed the Cana Foundation €30,000 in funds every year for the next three years.  The foundation is a branch of the Cana Movement, which aims to promote and strengthen the family.
