Donald Trump is set to campaign in west-central Iowa as part of his fall push with the state's leadoff caucuses now less than two months away. Trump is expected to headline a rally in Fort Dodge on Saturday afternoon. The United Auto Workers union has overwhelmingly ratified a new contract with Ford, a pact that, along with similar deals with General Motors and Stellantis, will raise pay across the industry. Ford workers voted 69.3% in favor of the pact, which passed with nearly a 15,000-vote margin in balloting that ended early Saturday. The leader of a South Dakota tribe says he will declare a state of emergency on a reservation because of rampant crime including gun violence, drug offenses and rapes. Oglala Sioux President Frank Star Comes Out says the declaration planned for Saturday on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is a result of the U.S. government’s inadequate funding for law enforcement. University of Virginia officials are further delaying the public release of the findings of an investigation into the events surrounding a 2022 campus shooting that killed three student-athletes and wounded two other students.
