Warren Buffett is not a fan of hedge funds and the high fees they charge clients for the promise of outperformance. 

"When trillions of dollars are managed by Wall Streeters charging high fees, it will usually be the managers who reap outsized profits, not the clients," Buffett said in his annual shareholder letter published on February 25.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is out with its annual letter to shareholders.

The letter covers a bunch of topics, touching on everything from stock buybacks to his favorite book of 2016, and also provides some investment advice. 

"Over the years, I’ve often been asked for investment advice, and in the process of answering I’ve learned a good deal about human behavior," Buffett said in the letter.

Lego topped this year's ranking of the world's most powerful brands, according to a survey compiled by the business valuation consultancy Brand Finance.

Six of the top ten most valuable companies in the 500-strong ranking were technology companies. Google led the pack of most valuable companies, overtaking the 2016 leader Apple.

Warren Buffett is still bullish on America.

The Berkshire Hathaway CEO has long been a believer in the economic power of the American people and its institutions and that opinion does not appear to have changed in his 2016 Annual Letter to Shareholders.

"One word sums up our country’s achievements: miraculous," said Buffett in the letter.

NEW YORK, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s gain on its investment in Apple Inc. stands at more than $1.6 billion after shares of the iPhone maker surged.

The stake of 61.2 million shares was acquired last year for $6.75 billion, an average of about $110.17 apiece, according to the annual report Saturday from Berkshire, which is led by billionaire chairman Warren Buffett.

Nearly half of Mexicans don't think their government should've sent Sinaloa cartel kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to the US, and more than 60% think the Mexican government should've held on to him for negotiations with President Donald Trump.

The poll, conducted two days after Guzman was sent north on Jan. 19, queried 400 Mexicans about the kingpin's extradition, with a margin of error of 4.9%.

Warren Buffett's investments continued to pay off in the fourth quarter, as Berkshire Hathaway reported a 15% rise in profits. 

Buffett's holdings include a mix of subsidiaries like auto-insurer Geico, and publicly traded conglomerates such as Coca-Cola.
