Washington (AFP) — Neil Gorsuch, nominated this week by President Donald Trump to fill a vacant seat on America's highest court, faces an epic confirmation battle in the US Senate.

Gorsuch's main task will be to argue that he is not the partisan, reactionary judge his critics say, in a process that will last months in the amphitheater of Capitol Hill.

This season, Tom Brady shut down any lingering doubt about how, at 39 and after missing the first four games of the season to serve his Deflategate suspension, he would fare on the field.
