The United Auto Workers union says President Shawn Fain will update members on progress in contract talks with Detroit’s three automakers as General Motors increased its wage offer. In a statement, GM said it made an offer on Friday with substantial movement in all key areas. in an effort to end the strike. Police say a Maryland circuit court judge was fatally shot in the driveway of his home. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says Judge Andrew Wilkinson was found around 8 p.m. Thursday at the home in Hagerstown and taken to a hospital, where he died. The sheriff’s office is investigating the fatal shooting. State police spokesperson Elena Russo says state troopers were deployed overnight as a precaution to protect judges who live in Washington County.
