COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Supreme Court justices vigorously questioned the state's lawyer Wednesday about a legal strategy that Ohio is attempting in hopes of resuming enforcement of a ban on abortion except in the earliest weeks of pregnancy.

A Montana state judge has blocked enforcement of a law to ban gender-affirming medical care for minors. District Court Judge Jason Marks on Wednesday said the law is unconstitutional. He also said banning access to gender-affirming care would harm the mental and physical health of minors with gender dysphoria. President Joe Biden has vetoed Republican-sponsored bills intended to undo federal protections for two endangered species that have seen their populations plummet over the years. Wall Street is holding steadier Wednesday as its sharp September swoon eases up a bit. The S&P 500 was 0.3% higher Wednesday, a day after dropping 1.5% to its lowest level since June. North Korea says that it will expel a U.S. soldier who crossed into the country through the heavily armed border between the Koreas in July. The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said Wednesday that authorities have finished their questioning of Pvt. Travis King. It said that he confessed to illegally entering the North and quoted him criticizing the U.S. Verifying the authenticity of the comments attributed to King is impossible. The agency did not say when authorities plan to expel King or to where.

Iran is claiming that it has successfully launched an imaging satellite into space. The state-run IRNA news agency, quoting the country’s communication minister, says the Noor-3 satellite had been put in orbit 450 kilometers, or 280 miles, above the Earth’s surface. A senior Qatar Airways executive has told an Australian Senate inquiry that there would be no repeat of an incident at Doha’s international airport in 2020 in which female passengers were subjected to invasive gynecological examinations.
