BEIJING (AP) — Imprisoned Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate and dissident Liu Xiaobo has been transferred to a hospital after being diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer, his former lawyer said Monday.

The deteriorating health of China’s best-known political prisoner was immediately met with dismay by the country’s beleaguered community of rights activists and lawyers, who called it a blow to the democracy movement.

(Reuters) - Nearly a dozen Ohio state websites, including Governor John Kasich's, were up and running again on Monday, a day after hackers posted messages of support for the Islamic State on their homescreens.

After the hack, the homescreen of governor.ohio.gov, Kasich's official website, displayed a black background and an Arabic symbol, and the top of the screen said "Hacked by Team System Dz."

Paris (AFP) - Citizens from Europe's wealthier nations accept that their countries should take more asylum seekers than poorer ones, researchers said on Monday.

In a survey of 18,000 eligible voters from 15 European nations a "large majority" said countries with more "capacity" should host more migrants.

Capacity is measured by a country's population size and gross domestic product, among other factors.

The Congressional Budget Office on Monday released its analysis of the Senate Republican healthcare bill, projecting significant coverage losses both immediately and over the next decade if the legislation were to become law.

The CBO projected that 22 million fewer people would have coverage under the bill, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, in 2026 than under the current healthcare system.

Royal Navy

Britain's new and only aircraft carrier -- the largest and most powerful ship ever built for the Royal Navy -- set off for its first sea trial in Scotland on Monday.

HMS Queen Elizabeth, a 919-foot, 65,000-tonne vessel, left the dock at the port of Rosyth on the Firth of Forth estuary near Edinburgh.

The ship cost $3.8 billion to build in a project employing 10,000 people and will be the country's future flagship.

New student loan borrowers are about to pay more starting in July when the federal government increases interest rates.

The rates on federal student loans will increase .69 percentage points across a slew of loan products for the 2017-2018 school year.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo will join ESPN on July 1, the start of NBA free agency, according to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated.

Wojnarowski's move was first reported by Deadspin in February and subsequently by Recode in May, the latter coming shortly after a round of big layoffs at ESPN. Neither ESPN nor Wojnarowski confirmed the reports.
