Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook on Thursday described the European Union's imposition of a 13 billion euro ($14.5 billion) back tax bill as "total political crap" motivated in part by anti-U.S. bias, the Irish Independent reported.

Cook told the newspaper in an interview he would work closely with Ireland to try to overturn the decision and said the U.S. tech giant was committed to its operations in Ireland.

Salesforce says it spent $110 million to buy BeyondCore, the data analytics startup it acquired last month, according to the 10-Q filed Thurdsay.

The acquisition was announced in August but the financial details of the deal were not disclosed previously. The deal is expected to close by October.

The world's biggest hedge fund firm thinks that China is preparing for a bust.

Ray Dalio's Bridgewater says that China has experienced an "unsustainable buildup of credit," which is "typical of debt boom and busts," according to a private note to investors viewed by Business Insider.

Colorado's weed is getting much cheaper.

In October, the cost of a wholesale pound of cannabis was around $2,400 to $2,600. That price has almost been cut in half to between $1,400 and $1,600 last month, according to data from Tradiv, an online marijuana-distribution platform.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown, who oversaw the response to a July sniper attack that killed five officers, has announced his retirement.

Brown issued a statement Thursday saying he will retire Oct. 22 after 33 years with Dallas police. He was not immediately available for additional comment.

Brown says he was prompted to become an officer in 1983 by a crack cocaine epidemic in a Dallas neighborhood. He was named police chief in 2010.

Lululemon delivered its second-quarter earnings report on Thursday afternoon.

The company announced earnings for the second quarter of $0.38 a share, in line with expectations of $0.38 a share. 

Additionally, Lululemon generated $514.5 million in revenue, a hair below expectations of $514.7 million. This was a 14% increase from the second quarter of fiscal 2015.

Someone at Apple-owned Beats sent an email they weren't supposed to.

Beats sent an email to French media on Thursday informing them that "a selection of new Beats by Dre products will be unveiled" at Apple's iPhone 7 launch next week, iDownloadBlog reports. 

One publication, iGen.fr, published and later took down a screenshot of the Beats email.

Smith & Wesson on Thursday reported fiscal-first-quarter earnings that crushed analysts' expectations, and the company raised its full-year guidance. 

The gunmaker posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.62 and revenue totaling $207 million. Analysts had forecast that it earned $0.54 in adjusted EPS, and revenue of $198.3 million, according to Bloomberg.

Seeking to mitigate concerns that he'd returned to his hardline stance on immigration, Donald Trump on Thursday insisted that he is softening on the issue.
