Steven Komarow died Sunday after an illness complicated by a recent accident. He was 61. ST. LOUIS (AP) — The trial for man accused of killing four people in Kansas and one in Missouri has been postponed because his attorney has withdrawn from the case. Pablo Serrano-Vitorino was scheduled to go to trial in October. He faces the death penalty in the March 2016 deaths of four men in Kansas City, Kansas, and a Montgomery County, Missouri, man. KRCG-TV reports Serrano-Vitorino's public defender asked to withdraw from the case because he underwent heart surgery in April and will retire from the public defender's system June 1. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley is supporting a Trump administration plan to ask people if they are citizens during the 2020 Census. Hawley said Monday that asking a citizenship question "is common sense." Hawley wasn't among the dozen other Republican attorneys general who originally urged President Donald Trump's administration to add the question. A citizenship question hasn't appeared on the census version sent to every household since 1950. Numerous Democratic attorneys general have sued to try to block it.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds says she never knew of or witnessed inappropriate behavior during her two-decade friendship with a former state agency director whom she abruptly fired after learning of sexual harassment allegations. The Republican governor said "absolutely not," when asked Monday if she knew of any alleged inappropriate conduct over the years by Dave Jamison, the ex-director of the Iowa Finance Authority. Reynolds fired Jamison on March 24, shortly after learning of allegations against him by two people.
