PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona teachers began to vote Tuesday on whether to walk off the job in their push for more funding for education. Arizona Educators United, a grass-roots group that's mobilized tens of thousands of teachers for weeks of protests, instructed teachers on how to hold a strike vote over three days. The group told teachers to hand out premade paper ballots to be filled out before and after school. The vote on whether to walk out comes despite Republican Gov. NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A group of Yale University students have been arrested for trespassing following a protest at the school's financial aid office. Students refused to leave the financial aid office as they demanded Yale stop requiring students on financial aid to make a mandatory contribution totaling thousands of dollars. CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A bill that would establish paid family and medical leave has an uncertain future as a New Hampshire legislative committee gives it another look. Republican Gov. Chris Sununu told the Senate Finance Committee he can't support the bill and that more research is needed. The measure cleared three votes in the House before it went to the committee. CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — An immigrant from Brazil who has lived in the United States for nearly 28 years has lost a court bid to stay and faces deportation this week. Lawyers for 65-year-old Elvecio Viana, of Nashua, New Hampshire, say he came to the U.S. on a visa. He recently filed papers for permanent resident status, but was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on March 5. An official says seven students at a Maryland elementary school have used razor blades from pencil sharpeners to cut their arms. A spokesman for Prince George's County public schools said Tuesday that a William Paca Elementary School parent alerted staff to her concerns March 29, leading the district to send a crisis counseling team to the school in Landover. The spokesman said a school nurse examined the students involved, their parents were notified, and they were offered counseling support. No students needed further medical treatment. LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts has signed three tax measures designed to shield residents from looming tax increases. Ricketts approved the bills on Tuesday, one day before lawmakers convene for the last day of this year's session. REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) — A prisoner in Iceland suspected of masterminding the theft of about 600 computers used to mine bitcoin has managed to escape custody and flee the remote North Atlantic nation on a passenger plane. Police said surveillance footage showed a suspect they identified as Sindri Thor Stefansson boarding a passenger plane to Sweden on Tuesday morning.
