BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts man authorities dubbed the "spelling bee bandit" because the notes he passed to tellers during multiple bank robberies in the Boston area contained the same spelling error has been sentenced. Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Jason Englen was sentenced to seven years of prison and three year of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in November to four counts of bank robbery. The Tribeca Film Festival is tackling Hollywood’s gender gap head-on, on Wednesday announcing a full lineup of films of which nearly half are directed by women. This year’s festival, which runs April 18-29, includes 96 films from 103 filmmakers — and 46 percent of them are directed by women, a record for the festival and an anomaly for most major film festivals. A shelter-in-place warning lasted overnight in San Francisco, as police negotiated with a man who allegedly fired shots on the 200 block of Miramar Avenue. CLINTON, Mo. (AP) — The Latest on the shooting of three Missouri police officers (all times local): 1:40 p.m. The suspect in a shooting that killed a Missouri police officer and wounded two other officers had been in and out of prison since 2000 for drug and resisting arrest convictions. The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the suspect in a tweet Wednesday as James Waters, of Clinton. PENNINGTON GAP, Va. (AP) — Seniors at a Virginia high school almost raffled off an AR-15 rifle to fund a class trip. But they changed the prize over concerns that the same type of weapon was used to kill 17 people at a Florida high school last month. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A new emergency shelter in Bismarck opened just in time to keep about 30 people warm in this week's storm. CENTERVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania have reopened a road where hydrochloric acid was spilled in a crash involving a train and a tractor-trailer.
