First rising tides, now sinking shorelines: Study finds new trouble for Bay Area
Rising tides aren’t the only problem that the Bay Area faces as sea levels climb. There’s also the threat of a sinking shoreline.
A study published Wednesday suggests that flooding along San Francisco Bay will be far worse, sometimes twice as bad as the current models show, because parts of the shore are slipping downward at the same time that global warming is driving water levels upward.
