MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis officials plan to ask the state for money to help fix an 86-year-old bridge that links the University of Minnesota's East and West Bank campuses. The whole University of Alaska system, which owns the library, is preparing to take a financial hit after Gov. The Worcester-area schools recently announced an agreement in which students can first earn an associate degree in public service majors at Quinsigamond, then be guaranteed admission to Anna Maria for their junior and senior years and a chance to complete a four-year degree. Two people died early Friday in a crash on Highway 1 in Pacifica, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near the Paloma Avenue on-ramp. The identities of the victims were not immediately released. CHP officer Eric Anderson said northbound lanes on Highway 1 were closed while the scene was examined. JUBA, South Sudan (AP) — South Sudan's President Salva Kiir made a Christmas Eve decree dissolving the nation's 10 states and creating 28 new ones, a move which may threaten the peace deal signed in August to end the country's two-year civil war. Kiir's action to create 28 states comes after 150 rebels returned to the capital, Juba, on Monday to implement a peace deal signed by Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar.
