Shell retreats from the Arctic; two big drilling ships due back in Washington waters
Two big drilling ships from Shell’s aborted Arctic oil exploration program, the Transocean Polar Pioneer and Noble Discoverer, are headed to Washington waters for what’s expected to be a brief stay. But the Polar Pioneer will not be returning to Seattle, where it was greeted last April by a seaborne protest of “kayactivists” including local politicians.
