EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — An animal welfare officer in Oregon is getting attention after her rescue of a fawn was captured on her body-worn camera. The Eugene Police Department on Thursday made public a video and photo of Officer Shawni McLaughlin freeing a terrified fawn that got stuck in a backyard fence. In the video, McLaughlin wraps the fawn's head in a towel and lifts it from between two narrow fence posts as she gently talks to the deer. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Three children, including two infants, were among the dozens of passengers seriously injured when the commercial bus they were riding in was hit head-on by a semitruck on a New Mexico highway, killing eight people, hospital officials said Friday. Officials at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque said 10 patients are hospitalized there, including three adults who are in intensive care, one of whom is in critical condition. Some patients were expected to undergo surgery Friday and Saturday.

“A Star Is Born” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, and critics are raving about Bradley Cooper’s remake starring Lady Gaga, giving the film a score of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. WILLARD, Mo. (AP) — A lawsuit says staff at a southwest Missouri school district failed to report that two students had sexually assaulted a middle school classmate on a school bus. The Springfield News-Leader reports that the lawsuit names Willard Public Schools and five employees. It alleges that the district failed to properly supervise students at a December 2016 school event, didn't comply with mandated reporter laws and didn't safeguard the boy when he came forward. LinkedIn says it's working to combat Chinese espionage activity targeting users of the online career network. The Microsoft-owned service said Friday it's partnering with U.S. law enforcement agencies after uncovering fake LinkedIn profiles and other fraudulent activity. DENVER (AP) — The Trump administration is rolling back some U.S. regulations on climate-changing methane pollution, calling them expensive and burdensome, but Colorado says its rules are working — and they have industry support.
