ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter has asked the city's police chief to call off demonstrations of the department's police dogs for the rest of the Minnesota State Fair. Carter's press secretary, Liz Xiong, said the mayor determined it was best to discontinue the demonstrations in light of an ongoing audit of the department's K-9 unit. SPRNGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — The founder of a Springfield-area event planning business is accused of molesting a child a decade ago. The Springfield News-Leader reported Tuesday that a grand jury indicted 41-year-old Edward Amberg, owner of Amberg Entertainment, on two felony counts of child molestation. Investigators say the alleged offense occurred in December 2008 and involves a child under the age of 14. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky's largest school district has struck a deal with the state Board of Education to avoid the state's attempt to seize control of the system. The Jefferson County Board of Education approved the settlement in a 4-3 vote Monday night, The Courier Journal reported . The state's board still must agree to dismiss an appeal case. NEW YORK (AP) _ Prospect Capital Corp. (PSEC) on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $114.3 million. The New York-based company said it had net income of 31 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to 22 cents per share. The business development company posted revenue of $174 million in the period. For the year, the company reported profit of $299.9 million, or 83 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $607 million. CHICAGO (AP) — The deadliest residential fire in years in Chicago claimed its tenth and final victim on Tuesday, as a 14-year-old boy who barely survived the blaze died at a hospital. HONOLULU — Tropical Storm Lane ranks as the second-biggest rainmaker from a tropical cyclone in the United States since 1950. Lane dumped 52.02 inches of rain on Mountain View, Hawaii, from Wednesday through Sunday, the National Weather Service said Monday.
