LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will continue to train state child welfare workers under a renewed agreement with a state agency. The university announced Monday that it has won a $12 million award from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to prepare newly hired child welfare workers. The university's Center on Children, Families and the Law has partnered with the state since 1987. The new award extends the program for three years, with the possibility of an additional two years. DENVER (AP) — Officials say the three new homeless shelters that have recently opened in Denver are aiming to be more welcoming to the homeless by offering more amenities. (AP) — A Louisiana private investigator pleaded guilty on Monday to misusing Donald Trump's Social Security number in repeated attempts to access the president's federal tax information before his election last year. Jordan Hamlett, 32, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine following his guilty plea in federal court. DETROIT (AP) — Michigan health officials say the southeast part of the state is seeing a serious outbreak of hepatitis A cases. An analysis by the Detroit Free Press found that Michigan has led the U.S. in hepatitis cases per capita this year, with more than 500 reported cases so far. The Detroit News reports that there have been 20 deaths linked with hepatitis A in southeast Michigan since August 2016.
