AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) — Utah police say a man was shot outside a Taco Bell in American Fork. American Fork Police Department Sgt. Josh Christensen says police believe an altercation between two men led to the shooting on Monday afternoon. According to Christensen, the shooter fired multiple times, hitting the victim at least once. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police identified the shooter with the help of multiple witnesses. They say he was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and is in custody.

FORT MOHAVE, Ariz. (AP) — A northwestern Arizona man is accused of giving his 14-year-old daughter a gun and telling her to kill herself. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old Ulys Laffette Bell IV of Fort Mohave told deputies he had disciplinary issues with his daughter, handed her a handgun and told her to pull the trigger. (AP) — A Kansas teacher who was tripped by a student and knocked unconscious in her classroom is suing the school district for discrimination after she was discharged following an extended work leave. The Kansas City Star reports that former McKinley Elementary School teacher Susan Miles filed a federal lawsuit Monday. The fire started Sunday night and burned about 6 acres (2.5 hectares) in a park and nature area east of Longmont.
