HONOLULU (AP) — A Hawaii Senate committee was scheduled Tuesday to hear a bill that would force landowners into mediation before they are allowed to file lawsuits to acquire small parcels awarded to Hawaiian commoners during mid-19th century land reforms. The bill was introduced after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in late 2016 filed lawsuits to identify owners of 14 parcels interspersed within a 700-acre (283-hectare) oceanfront estate he owns on Kauai Island. DETROIT (AP) — U.S. auto sales grew 6.3 percent in March on rising sales of SUVs and pickup trucks. Automakers sold more than 1.6 million vehicles for the month as buyers came out of hibernation after a cold, snowy winter. Autodata Corp. says truck and SUV sales rose 16 percent while car sales plunged more than 9 percent. Nearly two-thirds of all vehicles sold were trucks or SUVs. ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A $5.6 billion incentive package to try to lure Amazon's second headquarters to Maryland has advanced in the House of Delegates. The House gave the bill preliminary approval Tuesday. The House could vote on the bill already passed by the Senate it in the next couple of days and send it to Gov. DETROIT (AP) — Police are investigating accidental shootings in Detroit and Houston that were livestreamed on social media and that left a teenager dead and a man on life support. Detroit police say two 18-year-olds were live on Instagram on Monday night showing money and a gun when one of them shot the other in the back of the head, killing him. "Nightmare bacteria" with unusual resistance to antibiotics of last resort were found more than 200 times in the United States last year in a first-of-a-kind hunt to see how much of a threat these rare cases are becoming, health officials said Tuesday. A museum in Los Alamos, New Mexico — a once-secret New Mexico city that developed the atomic bomb which help end World War II — has put an exhibit from Japan on hold because of its theme of abolishing nuclear weapons.
