Mistrial declared for Charlotte police officer charged with manslaughter
Facing a deadlocked jury, Judge Robert C. Ervin has declared a mistrial in the case of a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Randall Kerrick, who shot and killed an unarmed man in September 2013.Prosecutors argued during the three-week trial that Kerrick used excessive force when he fired 12 shots at 24-year-old Jonathan Ferrell, striking him 10 times, after Ferrell did not follow officers’ instructions.
