On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had profit of 5 cents. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions and non-recurring costs, were 8 cents per share. INSTITUTE, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia State University is honoring Earl Lloyd, the first African-American to play in an NBA game. The university will name a street on campus after Lloyd, who played professionally in the 1950s. The Nov. 9 ceremony will take place in the lobby of the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center, where a statue honoring Lloyd stands. The new Earl Lloyd Way is located between the Convocation Center and the University's tennis courts. The event is open to the public. TUCKER, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia have arrested a teenager and are seeking two other suspects in connection to a car chase that ended in a shootout. News outlets report 18-year-old Daniel Ramirez was arrested Thursday and charged with armed robbery. DeKalb police say a taxi driver was carjacked early that morning, and a responding officer spotted the stolen cab and gave chase. Police spokesman Sgt. E. Well, we finally got our answer. The worst NFL team in the Bay Area? The Raiders. By a formidable margin. In the final “Battle of the Bay,” the 49ers, led by an undrafted free agent making his NFL debut, made the Raiders look like a junior-varsity team that didn’t want to be anywhere near the big boy field. Patrik Laine could hardly find a better place than home to show off his scoring instincts. Laine had a hat trick as the Jets beat Florida 4-2 in Helsinki on Thursday. CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority has cleared the way for another portion of a massive water delivery system to be built. The authority on Thursday signed a construction agreement and issued a notice to proceed on construction of a seven-mile stretch of pipeline from an area northwest of Cannon Air Force Base toward a water storage system in Clovis. (AP) — Organizers of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta say an estimated 886,000 visits were logged this year and the event attracted more than 660 registered balloons from more than a dozen countries around the world.
