ANKARA, Turkey — Members of a team from Saudi Arabia sent to help Turkish authorities investigate the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi worked instead to remove evidence of the slaying, a senior Turkish official said Monday. The official confirmed a report in Turkey’s Sabah newspaper that an 11-member team of Saudi investigators that arrived in Turkey nine days after Khashoggi was killed to take part in a joint Turkish-Saudi probe included experts on chemistry and toxicology who were reportedly charged with obfuscating the evidence.

(AP) — An Air Force falcon named Aurora is resting and the school remains optimistic for a recovery after she was injured at West Point during a prank before the annual rivalry football game. TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police say a trooper's gun was stolen when a man broke into his department-issued vehicle in western Indiana. Police say the theft of the black .45-caliber pistol occurred about 4 a.m. Monday in a subdivision in northern Vigo County. It says cash also was taken during break-ins involving that vehicle and one other. Video obtained from surveillance cameras show the suspect checking vehicles in the area. WASHINGTON — Earth’s protective ozone layer is finally healing from damage caused by aerosol sprays and coolants, according to a new report from the United Nations. LOS ANGELES — A teacher was arrested on suspicion of punching a 14-year-old student who used a racial epithet and threw a basketball at him in a classroom, authorities said. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island has dipped 4 cents in the past week to its lowest level since the spring. AAA Northeast reported Monday that its weekly price survey found self-serve, regular averaging $2.77 per gallon. Rhode Island's price is a penny higher than the national average, and 20 cents higher than the in-state price a year ago. NEW YORK (AP) — Harvey Weinstein's lawyers are making a new attempt to get the New York sexual assault case against him dismissed. The former Hollywood producer's attorneys say in a court filing Monday his indictment was "irreparably tainted by police misconduct," among other problems. Weinstein's attorneys are asking for a dismissal — or a hearing on what they call "the extent of the misconduct." The Manhattan district attorney's office hasn't immediately responded.
