WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump expressed confidence he can reach a deal to end a burgeoning trade war with China, saying he will meet his Chinese counterpart at the Group of 20 meetings in Argentina in about a month. A fire broke out at a homeless encampment in Oakland on Friday, authorities said. The Oakland Fire Department responded to the blaze around 12:30 p.m., Capt. Chris Foley said, at a homeless camp on East 12th Street, between 22nd and 23rd avenues. Firefighters got the blaze under control around 1:15 p.m., Foley said, and did not report any injuries. Between 15 and 20 living spaces were affected, but Foley did not have an estimate of how many people were displaced. The Red Cross will be responding to help those needing shelter, officials said. ISLAMABAD — The release of a Christian woman in Pakistan, acquitted eight years after being sentenced to death for blasphemy, was apparently delayed Friday after talks failed between the government and radical Islamists who want her publicly hanged. Islamists held rallies Friday across Pakistan against freedom for Asia Bibi and to denounce Wednesday’s Supreme Court ruling that overturned her 2010 conviction of insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Employers keep creating jobs at a healthy clip — 250,000 of them in October — a boom that was apparent in every major sector and that continued unabated even as the U.S. economy inched closer to full employment. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis man linked to a fatal shooting by a sneaker left at the scene has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder. Calvin Baxter also was sentenced Friday to a concurrent 10-year term for a weapons charge stemming from the September 2016 slaying of Malcolm McDaniel on the city's east side.
