NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are slipping Friday as a big loss from Apple drags technology companies lower and an increase in interest rates hurts high-dividend companies. The world's largest technology company forecast weak revenue and said it will stop disclosing quarterly iPhone sales. Stocks had surged over the previous three days and they're still on pace for a big weekly gain after they skidded in October. FONTANA, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities are investigating the fatal stabbing of a toddler and wounding of his mother. The Fontana Police Department says family members arriving home Thursday afternoon found the 3-year-old boy and his 23-year-old mother suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers and paramedics arrived and transported the victims to hospitals. The child was later pronounced dead. A police statement says a man was taken into custody a short distance from the home.... CNN contributor Ana Navarro will join “The View” as a regularly occurring guest host, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to TheWrap on Friday. Navarro has been a guest co-host in the past. Navarro — once a prominent GOP strategist — became an outspoken anti-Trump voice during the 2016 election and regularly appears on CNN. GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) — A new hotel at Alabama's Gulf State Park is finally open more than 14 years after the previous one was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan. A grand-opening ceremony was set for Friday at the park, located between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The 350-room hotel is being operated by Hilton Hotels and Resorts under a deal with the state. WOLFEBORO, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire authorities say a man unhappy about his estranged wife's relationship with another man shot and killed the couple, and then took his own life days later as investigators focused on him as the suspect. The attorney general's office said Friday that 41-year-old Kevin Moran, of Ossipee, messaged family members Wednesday night, and then fatally shot himself in a vehicle outside of his home. NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The University of Oklahoma has announced the elimination of 50 staff positions as part of efforts to reduce expenses. President James Gallogly informed faculty and staff of the cuts in an email Thursday. He says no further reductions are expected during 2018. A news release says the cuts primarily involve the Norman campus, though details of which departments or programs are affected haven't yet been provided. LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A shuttle bus for a Southern California Halloween attraction became a scare for riders. Passengers were expecting a ride of a few minutes Thursday night to the "Dark Harbor" event at the Queen Mary in the Port of Long Beach. Instead, the driver went off course and wouldn't stop, ending up in the neighboring city of Carson. A swarm of earthquakes, including a magnitude 4.2 quake, rattled the Salinas area Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. The 4.2 quake was reported at 5:58 a.m. near the San Benito County community of Paicines south of Hollister, formerly called Tres Pinos, with a depth of 6 kilometers, the USGS reported.
