(AP) — The family and friends of a teacher from upstate New York killed while protecting her dog from an attacking alligator last week are fundraising to buy school supplies for needy children. Forty-five-year-old Cassandra Cline was dragged into a lagoon and killed while she was trying to protect her pet border collie near her home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina last week. NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors have arrested a 13th suspect in the brutal gang-related slaying of a teenager outside a New York City deli and are seeking a 14th. The Daily News reports that Bronx prosecutors are seeking a 14th suspect in the June 20 machete death of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz. (AP) — The owner of a purported loan modification consulting company who fraudulently billed clients more than $400,000 for services he never performed has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans man accused of killing his 18-month-old daughter last year finally has a legal team to represent him and now the case is going to a mental competency hearing. The New Orleans Advocate reports that two attorneys from the Capital Defense Project of Southeast Louisiana enrolled to represent Mark Hambrick on Monday. ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has given final approval to a bill that will require all school bus drivers to submit to random drug and alcohol screening. The new law will take effect in four months. The law also prohibits bus drivers from drinking alcohol eight hours prior to their shift. It previously was six hours. DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man is free on bond after allegedly threatening to kill people on Facebook. Court records show 34-year-old Robert Nathaniel Seals of Dothan is charged with making terroristic threats after writing on the social media network that he was buying guns and "planning a mass attack." CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for an Interstate 70 shooting rampage and police chase in eastern Missouri. DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A couple convicted of killing a man at a Bowman motel two years ago have been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Madison West of Dickinson and Chase Swanson of Bowman were convicted in February of conspiracy to commit murder in the August 2016 slaying of 23-year-old Rhame resident Nicholas Johnson. LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. (AP) _ The Hain Celestial Group Inc. (HAIN) on Tuesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $69.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier. The Lake Success, New York-based company said it had a loss of 67 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations and non-recurring costs, came to 27 cents per share. WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man convicted of child pornography possession has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison. Prosecutors say 46-year-old Bryan Larson, of Douglas, was also sentenced to five years of probation upon completion of his sentence. He was convicted in November. Authorities searched Larson's home in June 2015 and found thousands of images of child pornography on his computer. The images and videos primarily depicted girls aged 4 to 8 engaged in sexual acts.
