PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Two unions representing about 1,000 Consolidated Communication workers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have approved three-year contracts, their first under Illinois-based company, officials said Friday. GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A sorority at a North Carolina college has been suspended for three years for hazing. News sources report East Carolina University suspended the Alpha Phi sorority last month for unspecified reasons as its national organization and the school conducted an investigation. On Friday, the school said its investigation found that members of the chapter participated in hazing, along with violating the risk management policy, university policies as well as the Student Code of Conduct. Q: My wife and I booked air travel through Expedia from Boston to Madrid via Dublin on Aer Lingus. The airline canceled our outbound flight because of weather in Dublin. Neither Expedia nor Aer Lingus notified us of the cancellation (each claims this was the responsibility of the other party). PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The city of Providence has decided to allow electric rental scooters on a trial basis, after a California company left the scooters on public sidewalks without warning. Providence released an electric scooter policy Friday. A one-year pilot program begins next week. The dockless scooters appeared in July in Providence and in Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts. OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — Eight former supervisors and safety officers at a Kentucky coal company have pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges they rigged dust monitoring in underground mines. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man who unlawfully sold firearms has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Boise says 27-year-old Fabian Gonzalez of Caldwell received the sentence Thursday in U.S. District Court. Authorities say Gonzalez was not a licensed firearms dealer but sold tactical rifles, a sawed-off shotgun and other weapons to a government informant in 2017. The firearms were recovered by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — State public health officials have confirmed the first two human cases of mosquito-borne West Nile virus in Connecticut this season. The state Department of Public Health announced Friday that residents of Fairfield and Newington have tested positive for the potentially fatal West Nile virus infection.
