DOVER, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire attorney general's office plans to recommend that a man convicted of killing his parents when he was 17 and sentenced to life in prison be re-sentenced to at least 50 years in prison. Robert Dingman and 14-year-old brother, Jeffrey, shot their parents in 1996. They wrapped the bodies in garbage bags and hid them in the attic and basement. The Rochester teens returned to school and were arrested after their parents' co-workers called police. Jeffrey got 30 years to life in a plea deal and was paroled in 2013.

BOSTON (AP) — Law enforcement officials in Massachusetts say they have recovered dozens of stolen Amazon packages and hope to get them to their rightful recipients in time for Christmas. Attorney General Maura Healey's office says the packages were discovered while police were searching the home of a person who works as a subcontractor making deliveries for Amazon. ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say one person has been found dead after a St. Joseph fire. The St. Joseph News-Press reports that the fire started Tuesday night in a duplex in the northern part of the city. The name of the victim wasn't immediately released. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire. Battalion Chief Dave Richey says the fire didn't cause heavy damage to the structure and was mostly contained to a couple of rooms. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds' staff has blocked a state agency's move to regulate guns in child care centers, saying the effort needs more discussion and possible legislative action. The Des Moines Register reports that the Department of Human Services' proposal required guns present in child care centers, including those run in private homes, to be locked away and kept separate from ammunition. LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The Michigan Supreme Court says the state must return more than $550 million to school employees who had money deducted for retiree health care. The court ruled 6-0 Wednesday. School employees had 3 percent of their pay deducted for about two years under a law signed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, but the law was declared unconstitutional. The Hollywood Reporter stated several people had accused producer Andrew Duncan of misconduct and said it had a dozen anonymous sources who spoke about the allegations.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations says President Donald Trump will take a U.N. General Assembly vote on a nonbinding resolution criticizing his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital "personally." COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado man landed in jail after offering to trade illegal homegrown marijuana for an SUV listed on Craigslist — a vehicle that happened to be owned by a sheriff. The Gazette reports Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell recently received a text from a 39-year-old Vail man offering to buy his SUV. PALM SPRING, Calif. (AP) — Palm Springs will remove a row of tall tamarisk trees which residents say has segregated a historically black neighborhood. The Desert Sun reported Monday that Mayor Robert Moon, council member J.R. Roberts and other city officials promised neighborhood residents that they would remove the trees and a chain link fence along property lines as soon as possible at an informal meeting. Many longtime residents told the paper that they believe the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are slightly higher Wednesday morning after the Senate passed a bill that would cut corporate taxes, with the House expected to approve the measure later in the day. BOONEVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say they are investigating the deaths of two people who detectives think died in some sort of altercation. A statement from Trooper Robert Purdy says the Owsley County Sheriff called state police Tuesday evening after finding the man and woman dead in a residence in the Lerose community of Owsley County. MOSUL, Iraq (AP) — The price Mosul's residents paid in blood to see their city freed was between 9,000 and 11,000 dead, a civilian casualty rate nearly 10 times higher than what has been previously reported.
