(AP) — Vermont regulators are reducing the financial incentives for electric customers who install renewable energy systems such as solar panels and get a credit on their bills for providing power to the grid. WASHINGTON (AP) — The story line sounds familiar: a popular pain drug becomes a new way to get high as prescribing by doctors soars. But the latest drug raising red flags is not part of the opioid family at the center of the nation's drug epidemic. It's a 25-year-old generic pill long seen as a low risk way to treat seizures, nerve pain and other ailments. OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Tens of thousands of investors will fill an Omaha arena this weekend to spend hours listening to Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger talk about business and life. The two men submit to the annual questioning from Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, reporters and analysts at the conglomerate's annual meeting each spring that has become an annual tradition for many in the crowd. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is going on the defensive in a series of tweets, saying the people he shut down during a contentious conference call were "sell-side analysts who represent a short seller thesis, not investors." OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Warren Buffett's company bought 75 million more Apple shares in the first quarter, giving it more than 240 million shares of the iPhone maker. Buffett told CNBC about the latest Apple stock purchases Friday as tens of thousands of shareholders begin to arrive at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting this weekend. HONOLULU (AP) — Southwest Airlines has announced that it plans to offer Hawaii interisland service at prices lower than those currently available. The airline on Wednesday made the interisland announcement, the Star-Advertiser reported . The push to turn White Sands National Monument into a national park is ramping up and one think tank says such a change could boost recognition of the southern New Mexico destination. It is home to the world's largest gypsum dune field. A study released Friday by the nonprofit research group Headwaters Economics found redesignation of White Sands could result in more than $6 million in new spending and more jobs. SEATTLE (AP) — The Alaska Air Group has begun construction on a new office building near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The Seattle Times reports the parent company of Alaska Airlines broke ground Thursday on the nearly 7-acre site across the street from its existing corporate headquarters in the city of SeaTac. The company expects the 128,000-square-foot (11,900-square-meter) building to have room for about 600 employees and to be completed in early 2020. HONOLULU (AP) — Nearly 1,500 residents were ordered to evacuate from their volcano-side homes after Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano erupted, sending molten lava to chew its way through forest land and bubble up on paved streets. Volcano officials couldn't predict how long Thursday's eruption may last, prompting Hawaii's governor to activate the National Guard to help with evacuations and provide security to about 770 structures left empty when residents sought shelter. LONDON (AP) — The World Health Organization is taking on the battle of the bulge, saying that saturated fats shouldn't make up more than 10 percent of people's diet. In its first draft guidelines on fat intake, the U.N. health agency said that to avoid piling on the pounds, both adults and children should ensure that no more than 10 percent of their calories come from saturated fat, found in foods including butter, milk, meat, eggs and chocolate. NEW YORK (AP) — Two investors have reached a deal to buy a majority share of New York City's historic Plaza Hotel for $600 million. The New York Times reports that the buyers are Shahal Khan, founder of the Dubai-based White City Ventures, and Kamran Hakim of the Hakim Organization, a major New York City landlord.
