Good to hear Jay Pitt’s has just signed another 2 year deal.
MC said last week, players back training today, all players fit and injury free. I’m sure everyone involved in the training set up will have to follow Covid safety protocols, as during the season. It almost inevitable that some players/staff will test positive, I wish them all well. Will the training sessions take place at BV, due to Covid restrictions, or do the club have other secure facilities. Let’s all hope the new year is a dam sight better than this year. Something might well come out yet - remember the club did pay the bloke's wages through all this time of injury. If I didn't do my job there'd be no safety net for me - I get I don't risk lifelong physical injury but still the club has a track record of standing by players IMO.

Some people are harsh!

The club may be in a slightly different position to some of our competitors in that we're a more commercially run enterprise, and with a huge load of debt owing from the new stadium development. We need to be realistic - we might be able to spend up to the cap, but we may well not be able to match some others when it comes to the marquee extras etc. I don't know for sure but it's not been a wonderful year financially has it?

To compare RU with RL is like comparing the BDO darts with the PDC. Once has gone in one upward direction the other backwards. We are the BDO of rugby. It's run like a working mens club committee.

After our Challenge Cup Victories of 2009 and 2010, the 2010 - 2020 period became the Decade of Hope for the long downtrodden Wire faithfull, when Hope was high that our pursuit of the elusive holy grail would finally come to fruition.

Sadly, as usual, it was not to be, and our cravings blown away on the winds to the four corners of the earth again in what became The Lost Decade.

Where did it all go so wrong?

Looks as though the financial hit that Widnes have suffered has forced them to close their Academy, although presumably they will be taking kids from local schools and clubs I guess ?

Just thinking out load but perhaps now is the time to convert him to a prop, assuming he'd be happy with that.

It's not a daft idea, plenty of back rowers, even centres have become props towards the end of their careers.

He's got the size and strength at 6'4'' and I suspect somewhat heavier these days that his Wiki page suggests at 16 st 5 lb.

Thought he ran the ball in hard for most of 2020, almost played like a prop at times and of course he is a good off-loader.

Andy Last is now officially no longer as FC employee and I just wanted to wish the guy luck in everything he does in the future. He's out of contract at the end of the year. If we refuse him permission to talk to other clubs, he will walk for for free.

If we allow him to talk, we have the option to match or better the offer (this allows JC to earn the money the market thinks he is worth), or if we can't agree, we can accept a fee.

He may, of course, decide to just see out his contract and leave anyway.
