LONDON (AP) — A new leak website 's struggle with what to keep on its shelves is illustrating the difficulty of balancing full transparency with respect for privacy in an age of mass disclosures. The site, dubbed Distributed Denial of Secrets, is aimed at securing the cascades of leaked data before they disappear amid the digital churn of the internet. CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — The Latest on plans for a new place to put a toppled confederate statue at the University of North Carolina (all times local): 10:55 a.m. The trustees of North Carolina's flagship university have approved a proposal to construct a new building to house a toppled Confederate monument. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill trustees overwhelmingly approved the plan Monday, though at least one member voted no. ISLAMABAD (AP) — President Donald Trump has reached out to Pakistan's prime minister, sending Imran Khan a letter seeking cooperation in bringing the Taliban to the negotiating table to end the 17-year war in neighboring Afghanistan, officials said Monday. A longtime Bay Area journalist and radio host was found dead in Paducah, Ky., three weeks after he had been reported missing, his family said. The family of Raphael “Ray” Taliaferro posted an update to a GoFundMe page Sunday night announcing his death. IRVING, Texas (AP) — Nexstar is offering to buy Chicago's Tribune Media for about $4 billion, four months after the collapse of a similar bid from Sinclair Broadcast Group. The offer Monday would make Nexstar, whose stations reach nearly 39 percent of all U.S. television households, the biggest operator of local TV stations in the U.S. Tribune Media owns or operates 42 local TV stations that reach 50 million households, as well as the national network WGN. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The typewriter Hugh Hefner used in college was the top-selling item at an auction of the Playboy magazine founder's possessions. Julien's Auctions says the Underwood Standard portable typewriter sold for $162,500. His complete set of Playboy magazines sold for $76,800, and a gold ring with a hidden compartment containing a Viagra pill sold for $22,400. Hefner's iconic smoking jacket fetched $41,600. The conservative publisher Regnery announced Monday that it had a deal with Pence's wife, Karen, and daughter, Charlotte, for two more picture books featuring Marlon. PARIS (AP) — French paramedics joined ongoing anti-government protests as the prime minister met with political rivals Monday in a bid to ease anger following violent riots that rocked Paris. Dozens of ambulances blocked a bridge leading to the National Assembly and lines of riot police officers stood in the rain to prevent them from getting too close to the building.
