QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) — A new welcome center for the Adirondack region has opened on the Northway. The Adirondacks Welcome Center rest area opened in Queensbury with information for tourists headed to the High Peaks, Lake Placid, Lake George and other regional attractions. The welcome center is located on the northbound side of Interstate-87, just north of the Saratoga County line between the Hudson River and Exit 18. It houses interactive kiosks highlighting regional attractions.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Twin snow leopard cubs born at an upstate New York zoo earlier this year have made their public debut. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse introduced males Ozzy and Strut on Thursday in the snow leopard exhibit. The cubs were born to mother Daania and father Senge on May 30. The twins are the zoo's fourth and fifth snow leopard cubs born there since 2012 as part of a national plan to ensure endangered or threatened species continue to survive. Sean Manaea’s shoulder surgery Wednesday was “best-case scenario,” renowned orthopedist Dr. Neal ElAttrache told the A’s, and manager Bob Melvin said the left-hander might be able to pitch again next year. BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (AP) — A funeral will be held Friday for a New York mother recognized by President Donald Trump for turning grief over her daughter's suspected gang killing into a crusade against MS-13. Evelyn Rodriguez, 50, was struck and killed by an SUV on Sept. 14 after a heated confrontation with the driver over the placement of a memorial to her slain daughter, Kayla Cuevas. DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Two Maryland police officers were shot while serving a drug-related search warrant at the wrong apartment late Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials.
