NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia say a Utah man has been charged with fatally shooting a schoolteacher in Norfolk on New Year's Eve. Norfolk Police said in a statement Wednesday that 70-year-old Edward Shaw of Sevier, Utah, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 50-year-old Caroline M. Hendrix. Officers say Hendrix was shot about 8 p.m. Sunday in her car. She died at a local hospital. CINCINNATI (AP) — The mother of a 2-year-old Ohio girl who was starved and beaten to death has pleaded no contest to murder and child endangering charges. Thirty-one-year-old Andrea Bradley entered the plea Wednesday in a courtroom in Cincinnati. Bradley and her boyfriend were both charged in the March 29, 2015, death of their daughter, Glenara Bates. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a southwest Missouri teenager accused of killing an elderly woman. The Springfield News-Leader reports that 17-year-old Trystan Westrip is charged as an adult with first-degree murder and attempted arson in the October 2016 stabbing death of 80-year-old Mary Shisler.
