CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia high school students can submit entries in an annual state-sponsored contest on the dangers of drinking and driving and underage alcohol consumption. The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is accepting essay or video entries for the NO School Spirits contest through Dec. 22. BEULAH, Mich. (AP) — A hunter killed a red-and-white horse in northern Michigan, apparently believing it was a deer. The owner tells TV station WPBN that the horse was found near a bait pile in Benzie County on Nov. 19, the fifth day of deer season. Tracii Kunish-Chandler says it's hard to imagine that the 83-year-old hunter couldn't recognize the animal. She says the horse, named Kodi, weighed 1,100 pounds. Mississippi State has hired Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead as its football coach, bringing in another up-and-comer who is largely in the mold of previous coach Dan Mullen. The school officially announced the hiring on Wednesday morning. The 44-year-old Moorhead replaces Mullen, who left Starkville, Mississippi, after nine successful seasons to become the Florida Gators' new head coach on Sunday. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police say a body has been discovered in a park and that they're investigating the death as a homicide. Police say the body was found Wednesday morning at Mesa Vere Park located near Lomas and Wyoming boulevards. No additional information was released.
