NEW YORK (AP) — Tapings for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" have been cancelled all this week following the death of the talk show host's mother. NBC said Sunday that repeat episodes will be shown from Monday to Friday. A spokeswoman for Fallon said his mother, Gloria Fallon, died Saturday at a New York City hospital with her son and other family by her side. She was 68. SEAFORD, Del. (AP) — An emu that had been roaming a Delaware county for about a month has been captured. WDEL-FM reported Sunday that the long-legged, flightless bird was located in the confines of an elementary school playground in Seaford. Officials with the Three Palms Zoo aided in its capture, along with Seaford Police, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Agriculture and Delaware Animal Services. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The concession speech Jesse Helms never had to give after his first election to the U.S. Senate is being shared after 45 years. The Charlotte Observer reports the Jesse Helms Center in Wingate is releasing copies of the speech the North Carolina Republican handed to a young assistant for safekeeping. Helms wrote the speech in case he lost on Nov. 7, 1972. WESTMINSTER, Calif. (AP) — A California man who eluded capture for two years before being arrested has been sentenced to more than 34 years in prison for stealing about $3 million in a real estate fraud scheme. Thomas Tarbutton was extradited to the U.S. in 2013 following his detention in Panama as he attempted to fly from Brazil, where he was living, to Costa Rica. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A Charlotte police officer walked in on an armed robbery in progress at a gas station and placed the gunman under arrest. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives said Sunday they charged 39-year-old Ronald Lynch Jr. with the stickup at the Circle K gas station. Police say the officer walked into the business around 5 a.m. Sunday and was met by a clerk hustling out of an office who said the armed man was in the back room.
