Federal investigators said Monday that they are ending their search for the voyage data recorder of a cargo ship that sank in the Atlantic during a hurricane, but remained hopeful that they could determine what happened to the ship without it. In a move that signals it could be beefing up to take on rival Spotify, Oakland-based Pandora announced Monday that it is purchasing the assets of financially-strapped online music service Rdio for $75 million. The deal, contingent on San Francisco’s Rdio being granted bankruptcy protection, is another step in the plan as Pandora seeks to broaden its offerings by late next year.
