After a series of winter storms enabled the kickoff of California’s ski season, another blast of snow is expected in the Sierra this weekend. Three large cougars were spotted together in the wilds of Sonoma County and a video of them lapping up water at a pond has made them YouTube darlings. The thirsty mountain lions were caught on a trail camera near the Bennett Valley neighborhood in Santa Rosa. A 30-second clip of the big cats shows two of them lounging by a pond drinking and the third lion apparently keeping an eye out presumably for any potential threats.

Arguments can be made as to how it achieves its effects, but what really matters is that “Brooklyn” locates and rides a river of intense emotion. There’s suffocating homesickness and breathless aspiration, not to mention the awful pressure of being young and having to choose your life path when you really have no basis for choosing, other than instinct. Frankfort police tell local media that 28-year-old Myranda Skinner and 36-year-old Bryan Wells led officers on a chase Monday morning after an officer noticed a license plate that had been reported stolen. Authorities say Skinner, the driver, tried to run over an officer when the suspects' vehicle was briefly stuck at a dead-end road.
