Sheldon, the in-development Big Bang Theory spin-off prequel about breakout character Sheldon Cooper's childhood in Texas, has found its young Sheldon as well as his mother Mary, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eight-year-old Big Little Lies actor Iain Armitage has been cast as the boy who will grow up to be The Big Bang Theory's nerdy, socially incompetent physicist (Jim Parsons). Perry is the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon's mother on The Big Bang Theory, and Scandal star Jeff Perry.

Amy Acker will play the lead in Matt Nix's untitled Marvel pilot for the network, The Hollywood Reporter says, and many adoring geeks (yours truly included) applauded. The pilot follows the mutants-are-deemed-bad-by-the-government formula of most Marvel properties, focusing on a set of parents who discover their children have superpowers and must go on the run with their kiddos lest goons snatch them up and hand them over to scientists to be poked by needles.

What About Bob? -- the 1991 flick that had Bill Murray playing a socially clueless psychiatric patient who drives his shrink, Richard Dreyfuss, bonkers -- is being rebooted by NBC with female leads and Leah Remini has been cast as the put-upon doc, TVGuide.com has learned. What About Barb? marks Remini's return to scripted TV; though she starred in the canceled 2013 comedy Family Tools on ABC, she's of course best known for her role as Doug Heffernan's (Kevin James) feisty wife Carrie on King of Queens, which ran for nine seasons on CBS.

At Norland Middle School, they followed acting teacher Tanisha Cidel's directions to crawl on the floor like lions and recite the tongue-twister "red leather, yellow leather" faster and faster. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors on Wednesday urged a judge to reject Roman Polanski's effort to unseal testimony in his long-running sex with a minor case unless the fugitive director returns to a Los Angeles courtroom. The filing argues that Polanski remains a fugitive and other judges have already ruled to keep the testimony sealed based on requests by former lawyers for the Oscar winner. Hamead Abdullahi faces federal firearms charges after posting photos of himself handling an AK-47-style rifle at Wade's Eastside Guns, a large gun shop and range in Bellevue. Abdullahi, 25, was charged Tuesday with three related counts in federal court.
