RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Maple Valley Highway is closed Sunday between Interstate 405 and 140th Way Southeast while crews remove three threes that pose a high risk of falling on the highway. The City of Renton expects the road to be closed until 5 p.m. The trees were leaning and officials found crack sin he soil and identified them as being in immediate danger of falling. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, but there will be police directing drivers around the area. Both directions of State Route 169 are closed.

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have rescued a man from a capsized canoe in northern New Jersey and a recovery operation is underway to find a second person. Officials said that the Rockaway Township police department was dispatched to White Meadow Lake at 3 a.m. Sunday. A man was found and transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released. The search for the second person is ongoing.

(AP) — A bus system designed to offer rapid transit on U.S. 36 between Boulder and Denver is stalled because of a state law that bars using the shoulder of the road for travel. The Colorado State Patrol has opposed the changes, saying highway shoulders should be reserved for emergency vehicles and drivers who have been pulled over.
