18 high-paying jobs for people who thrive under pressure

Some people crack under pressure — while others thrive in stressful situations.
If you happen to fall into the latter category, you may want to consider a career as an anesthesiologist or a news anchor.
We recently combed through data from the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), a US Department of Labor database that compiles detailed information on hundreds of jobs, to find the positions with a high "stress tolerance" score. We then looked at salary data on the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website to see which jobs pay over $70,000 a year, on average.
O*NET ranks how important "accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations" is in any job, assigning each a score between one and 100. Positions that put workers in stressful situations, such as nurse or pilot, rank between 95 and 100, while jobs such as animal breeder and crossing guard received scores under 50.
Here are 18 high-paying positions with a "stress tolerance" score of 93 or higher:

Average salary: $74,030
Stress tolerance score: 93
They diagnose and treat mental disorders; learning disabilities; and cognitive, behavioral, and emotional problems, using individual, child, family, and group therapies. They may also design and implement behavior modification programs.
Ship pilot
Average salary: $79,180
Stress tolerance score: 94
They command or supervise operations of ships and water vessels, such as tugboats and ferryboats.
Funeral services manager
Average salary: $81,080
Stress tolerance score: 93
They plan, direct, or coordinate the services or resources of funeral homes. They are responsible for determining prices for services or merchandise and managing the facilities of funeral homes.
