Saudi Arabia’s air defence forces intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi militia over Riyadh on Sunday, state-run al-Ikhbariya television said. The attack is at least the sixth to target Riyadh since December. The Houthis' al-Masira television said that rockets were aimed at Saudi defence ministry and other targets in the Saudi capital. Reuters could not verify the report independently. "The missile force confirms that 'Burkan'(Volcano)rockets hit their targets in Riyadh with high precision," it added, without specifying.

There is a willingness among EU nations for some operational changes on migration, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said at the end of an informal EU summit on the subject on Thursday afternoon. Italy is seeking to have seven boats carrying roughly 1,000 migrants needing rescue off Libya taken back to North Africa, according to a Spanish aid group. Proactiva Open Arms, which has rescued thousands of migrants in the Mediterranean, said the Italians want the Libyan coast guard to conduct the rescues and return the migrants. The nurses’ union has issued a series of directives to its members that will come into force in the coming days, following a breakdown of negotiations on the sectoral agreement. A 43-year-old motorcyclist died on Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle skidded into the wall of the southbound Tal-Qroqq tunnel. A woman who was riding pillion was seriously injured. The accident happened at about 4pm, scattering debris along a long stretch of the tunnel forcing its closure.   The Balzan man died shortly after being taken to hospital.  The woman's identity is not yet known, the police said.  Magistrate Monica Vella is heading an inquiry.

The Magistrate leading the inquiry into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia will be promoted to judge on Monday, along with another magistrate who last year was seen as being found her unfit for the role. The Ministry of Justice on Sunday formally announced the promotion of Magistrate Anthony Vella, meaning that he will have to hand the inquiry to somebody else. A 30-year-old man today plead guilty to stealing a pair of designer sunglasses from a shop in Qormi. Petrov Evgeniy was charged with stealing the sunglasses, which were eventually returned to the shop, Sun Lab, on Triq l-Iljun, Qormi, on June 9.
