Improvement and repair works are being carried out in a number of roads in the heart of St Julian’s and Paceville in preparation for the summer rise in tourist and entertainment activities. A Dutch journalist has approached former Prime Minister Alfred Sant in Brussels on the investment of Crane Currency in Malta and showed him a threatening letter in Maltese sent to slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia after 2015. This was said by Dr Sant on Xarabank on Friday during a debate with MEP David Casa. Ms Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb on October 16. The MSE Equity Total Return Index fell by 0.41 per cent this week, closing at 8,436.141 points giving back some of  last week’s advancement. A total of 20 equities were active, as gainers and fallers were balanced at seven apiece. Total turnover was €1.3 million, compared to the previous week’s figure of €0.9 million. The feast of St Vincent Ferrer will be celebrated at St Do­minic’s parish church, Valletta, today. Concelebrated solemn Mass will be led by St Paul’s Shipwrecked parish archpriest Canon Vincent Borg, who will also deliver the homily, at 6.30pm, followed by the procession with the statue of St Vincent with the participation of the Dominican community as well as the Confraternity of St Vincent Ferrer. The parish choir will take part. Next year, the Dominican community will mark the 600th anniversary of the death of St Vincent.

A 43-year-old man from Marsaxlokk was seriously injured on Friday in a traffic accident in Gudja. The police said the man was riding a Honda CB in the direction of Ħal Far when he lost control and fell off the bike. He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Junk food advertising could be banned on the London Underground network as part of plans to tackle the capital's "ticking time-bomb" of childhood obesity. A headteacher has banned fancy pencil cases after her school was "poverty-proofed" by experts. It was one of the measures taken at St Wilfrid's Primary School in Blyth, Northumberland, aimed at minimising the stigma poorer pupils endure. The production costs incurred by the different ministries between 2013 and last month were supplied in reply to a series of parliamentary questions by Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi.
