A’s Jed Lowrie starved for at-bats vs. lefties
MESA, Arizona - Oakland usually has at least two or three switch-hitters, but with Coco Crisp and Billy Burns departing in trades last year, Jed Lowrie is the only remaining A’s player who hits from both sides.
Lowrie has two at-bats vs. lefties to date, so the news that the White Sox were scratching scheduled starter Carlos Rodon on Friday was not helpful.
The A’s are scheduled to face lefty Rich Hill, the former Oakland starter, on Saturday at Camelback Ranch against the Dodgers, and lefty Jason Vargas on Sunday when the Royals come to Hohokam Stadium.
