Retired superintendent picked interim Iberville school head
PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) — The Iberville Parish School Board has appointed former Pointe Coupee Parish schools Superintendent Linda D'Amico to serve as its interim superintendent while the board searches for a new leader for the school district.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/25NExyA) the board's unanimous decision came Wednesday after it accepted the resignation of its current superintendent, Ed Cancienne, who is leaving the district June 30 to serve as the new head of the St. James Parish school system.
D'Amico, who retired for the Pointe Coupee school system last year after serving as its superintendent for 5½ years, will step into the Iberville role July 1.
