McCaffrey wins Hornung Award — nation’s most versatile player
The honors keep pouring in for Christian McCaffrey, who was named Tuesday as the winner of the Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in major college football.
McCaffrey, a workhorse running back and return specialist, also lined up at blocking back, slot, wildcat quarterback and wide receiver on his way to the NCAA season-record for all-purpose yards.
McCaffrey was chosen from among four finalists by a 16-member national selection committee composed of sports journalists, coaches and retired NFL players; online fan voting accounted for a 17th vote.
