North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones will miss the remainder of the current congressional term because of illness. The Herald-Sun of Durham reports the 75-year-old 3rd District Republican hasn't cast a roll call vote since Sept. 26. Jones has missed the last 27 roll call votes in the U.S. House of Representatives, including some in late September and since the House re-convened in November. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — A Douglas County judge is weighing the sentence for a man convicted in a fatal shooting outside a Eudora bar. Judge Peggy Kittel was scheduled to sentence 37-year-old Danny Queen on Monday for the death of 32-year-old Bo Hopson but instead took the matter under advisement. The Lawrence Journal-World reports Queen was convicted Aug. 1 of second-degree murder after Hopson was shot outside the D-Dubs Bar and Grill. Both men are from Eudora. HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — A former cabinet secretary of the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance has been sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for embezzling from a volunteer fire department where he handled financial affairs. Sixty-four-year-old Clifford Keith Gwinn of Hurricane was sentenced Monday in federal court in Huntington. Gwinn admitted embezzling nearly $179,000 from the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The Raiders could play their final game at the Coliseum next Monday night against Denver. Asa Hutchinson says he supports legislation filed on Monday to cut the initial filing fee for a concealed handgun license from $100 to $50. TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey is considering reviewing financial subsidies to its horse racing industry. Former Gov.
