SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police are trying to piece together the circumstances of a shooting that left a man critically wounded in the backyard of a home Saturday morning. Police Lt. Justin Hudson said several people were seen running away from the residence but no immediate arrests were made. Hudson said the injured man doesn't live at the residence where he was found by officers responding to a report of a shooting.

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts has announced an additional $40 million in funding to cities and towns across the state for road construction and transportation improvement projects. The money was included in a supplemental budget signed by Gov. Charlie Baker on Tuesday and brings the total of so-called Chapter 90 funding to $240 million for the fiscal year. Lt. Gov. NEW YORK (AP) — Two bound-together bodies that washed up on the shore on the west side of Manhattan have been identified as missing sisters from Virginia. The New York Police Department says the bodies that were found Wednesday lying on rocks along the Hudson River were 22-year-old Rotana Farea and her 16-year-old sister, Tala Farea, both of Fairfax, Virginia. John Haley, transit director for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, is retiring on the heels of a lawsuit alleging he sexually harassed and discriminated against his assistant, officials said late Friday. Haley, who joined the agency in 2010, was accused of inappropriately touching his senior management assistant, Sabrina Suzuki, and repeatedly making inappropriate remarks about women and their bodies, dating back to at least 2016.

A man riding a bicycle was killed late Friday in a collision with a car in Pittsburg, police said.
